Young Man Drowns at Joe Pool Lake PDF Print E-mail

A young man drowned in Joe Pool Lake on Sunday while swimming with friends, officials said. Grand Prairie police said Luis Alfaro of Irving remained under water for more than one hour at Lynn Creek Park before dive teams found him.

They said the 20-year-old's friends called 911 at about 6:30 p.m. when he went under the water and never resurfaced.

Police used sonar from a police boat to help narrow the search area.

Diving teams recovered Alfaro's body at about 8:10 p.m. in approximately 10 feet of water, police said.

Emergency workers were unable to revive him.
